SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team started its Spring Break weekend off on a high note, sweeping Bethel College 7-0 on Friday afternoon at Rohrbach Tennis Stadium.

All three doubles team won handily, dropping a combined three games. Junior
Paula Garrote (Alicante, Spain) and sophomore
Alessia Terlizzi (Andria, Italy) remained perfect this spring, improving to 6-0 with a 6-0 victory at number two. The pair have won eight straight, dating back to the fall tournament season.

Karen Kondo (Tokyo, Japan) and freshman
Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) won 6-1 on court number one, while freshman
Janel Ospanova (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) and sophomore
Stela Sifuentes (Eagle Pass, Texas) posted a 6-2 victory at number three. Ospanova and Sifuentes win their third straight match together and improve to 4-1.

All six Rattlers won in straight sets for the second straight match, with both Ospanova (2) and Terlizzi (3) winning without dropping a single game.Â

Garrote, playing on court number one, won 6-2, 6-0, while Sifuentes flipped the sets to win 6-0, 6-2 at number 5.Â

Senior
Kyndall Quiroz (San Antonio) posted identical 6-1 sets in her victory on court six and Kondo won 6-1, 6-3 at number four for the clean sweep.

The Rattlers hop on a bus and head to Richardson, Texas to face Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at 2 p.m. and then move to Arlington to face Hawai'i Pacific on Sunday at 2 p.m.
