U. Saint Mary (Kansas) • March 8 • 10 a.m. • San Antonio

NET POINTS

•    After a week off from competition, the St. Mary's Women's Tennis team returns home to host the University of Saint Mary (Kansas) on Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. for the lone competition of the week.

•    The Rattlers are coming off a pair of close losses to Southern Arkansas and Central Oklahoma, dropping both 4-3 in Tyler.

•    The number two doubles team of junior Paula Garrote and sophomore Alessia Terlizzi are a perfect 4-0 in doubles matches this spring and are now 6-1 together on the year. The six straight wins are the longest on the team.

•    Last week, the number one team of freshman Selina Wu and junior transfer Karen Kondo upset the #6 team in the nation from Central Oklahoma, winning 6-2 to set the stage for a Rattlers' doubles sweep.

•    Junior transfer Paula Garrote was named the initial Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the spring after she won a three-set thriller at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles against UTRGV. It was the first weekly award for Garrote in the Gold and Blue.

•    St. Mary's added three players during the winter break in freshman Renata Bucco Paolasso, junior transfer Karen Kondo, and freshman Janel Ospanova.

•    Sophomore Stela Sifuentes is riding the longest winning streak on the team in singles play, winning three straight. She has won all three in straight sets, winning one at number five and the last two at number six singles.

•    Freshman Selina Wu finished 1-2 at the ITA Cup during the fall season and was the only freshman in the 16-player women's singles draw at the prestigious tournament. The Rattlers have had at least one participant the last four seasons.

•    Three Rattlers had extremely good doubles results this fall as Bailey Godwin was 8-2, Kyndall Quiroz was 7-1 and Selina Wu was 12-2. Godwin was paired with Alessia Terlizzi or Wu, while Quiroz and Wu had four partners, including each other.

•    Selina Wu reached the finals of the South Central Regional, falling in the finals to second-seeded Alessa Maier from Texas A&M Kingsville. Wu went 5-1 at the tournament and earned an at-large berth to the ITA Cup.

•    The Rattlers return seven letterwinners off last season's NCAA Round of 16 team, including Lone Star Conference Tournament MVP Kyndall Quiroz and LSC All-Tournament and All-Conference selection Stela Sifuentes.
