SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Baseball team battled one of the hottest teams in the Lone Star Conference and high winds at Dickson Stadium on Good Friday, working a split. Texas A&M Kingsville won game one 4-1 before the Rattlers bounced back to win 5-4 in the nightcap.

StMU (14-19) and the Javelinas (22-15) conclude the four-game series on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rattlers currently have a 2-1 edge in the series.

Game One Recap
Texas A&M Kingsville put up a picket fence, scoring one run in each of the first three innings and held on for the 4-1 win.

The Rattlers scored their lone run in the fourth inning. After Jake Elizondo (San Antonio) singled up the middle,
Garrett Brooks (Spring Branch, Texas) walked on four pitches. With two outs,
Easton Parrish (La Vernia, Texas) singled to right field to plate Elizondo.

Freshman
Braeden Brown (Sinton, Texas) took the loss, but he only allowed three runs on five hits, walking two and striking out two in falling to 0-2. Both
Gabe Cook (San Antonio) and
Cameron Hodges (San Antonio) worked one inning in relief, allowing a hit each.

Senior
RJ Galvan (Alice, Texas) was 2-for-3 at the plate but was stranded on the base paths both times.

Game Two Recap
The Rattlers jumped out to an early lead and took their turn at hanging on for a win. The Javelinas threatened in the seventh inning with two runners on, but StMU recovered from a fielding error to tag out the lead runner between third and home, and then Parrish made a fantastic over-the-shoulder catch in foul territory as he ran toward the hitting cages from first base to win the game 5-4.

Devin Goins (San Antonio) was 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Galvan scored twice after drawing a pair of walks.

Sophomore
Kaleb Gauna (San Antonio) won his third consecutive outing, giving up four runs on five hits through five innings of work. He didn't walk a batter and struck out four as he improved to 3-2 on the year. Senior
Brett Brown (Sinton, Texas) needed only seven pitches to retire the side in order in the sixth and senior
Andrew Girod (San Antonio) earned his third save of the year.

Goins tripled in the first inning with the bases loaded and two outs, hitting the gap in right center and missing a home run by a couple of feet. In the third inning with two outs, Goins singled back up the middle to plate one and senior
Rudy Solis (El Paso, Texas) doubled down the right field line for the fifth run of the game.Â
