SAN ANTONIO — Coming home is good for what ails you, and while it may not have been a W on the scoreboard, the St. Mary's University Women's Basketball pushed West Texas A&M until the final buzzer on Thursday evening, falling 71-62.

The Rattlers had four players score in double figures for the first time all season, led by freshman
Taylor Haggan (Parker, Texas) with 17 points. She added a game-high 11 rebounds for the sixth double-double of her career. She also blocked both shots for the Rattlers (4-21, 4-15).

Junior
Stina Svilberg (Tallinn, Estonia) scored 12, senior
Teanna Huggins (San Antonio) added 11 – including a shot at the halftime buzzer from the Buddy & Anna Meyer Court logo. Senior
Ariah Powell (Detroit, Mich.) chipped in 10 and led the team with five assists.

The five assists for Powell are a career-high, bettering her previous high of four done three times this season.

The Rattlers outrebounded the Lady Buffs (17-10, 12-7 Lone Star) 42-to-41 and held a one-board advantage on the offensive glass, 13-to-12.

The Lady Buffs also had a quartet hit double digits in the scoring column, led by Nyalam Thabach with 16. She and Karley Motschenbacher led the team with eight rebounds each.

The Rattlers will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday against Lubbock Christian. The ceremonies will begin at 12:50 for the six seniors on the Rattler roster.
