DALLAS — The St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team outscored #4 DBU in the second half but couldn't make up the difference from the first half, falling 92-84 on Saturday afternoon.

The Rattlers (10-12, 6-10 Lone Star Conference) outscored the Patriots (20-2, 14-2 Lone Star) 48-to-45 in the second stanza but trailed 11 at halftime, 47-to-36.

Diego Gonzalez (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) had the best game of his career, totaling 20 points to tie for game-high honors. He was 7-for-10 from the field, 6-for-7 at the free throw line and added three steals and five rebounds.

Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas) became the 23rd St. Mary's Men's Basketball player to hit the amazing 1,000-point career milestone, doing so with a layup at 18:55 in the second half. Caron went on to score 15, block two shots and tie for team-high honors with four assists.

Davion Coleman (Houston) and junior
Franklin Agu (London, England) joined Caron and Gonzalez in double figures in the scoring column with 16 and 10, respectively, while Agu and senior
Lachlan Bofinger (Sydney, Australia) led the team with six rebounds each.

Ta'Jay Dunlap led the Patriots with 20 points and seven assists, while Cameron Kahn posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rattlers scored 54 of their 84 points in the paint and the bench players scored half of the team's points (43), keeping the Rattlers as one of the best bench-scoring teams in the country. St. Mary's was also extremely efficient from the field, shooting 56.7 percent for the game and 70 percent (21-for-30) in the second half.

St. Mary's plays on the road again next week, heading to Oklahoma Christian on Thursday and UAFS on Saturday. The games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
