SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team used a 6-0 run late in the second half to complete an 11-point comeback and force overtime against Texas A&M International on Thursday night but squandered a seven-point lead in the second overtime to fall 77-76.

The Rattlers (8-11, 4-9 Lone Star Conference) trailed by 11, 46-35 with 9:38 remaining in the game but the team slowly chipped away at the Dustdevils (11-9, 7-7 Lone Star) lead, completing the comeback on a
Keith Dinwiddie (Los Angeles) three-pointer with 0:50 remaining for the 55-55 tie. Each team made one more basket to send the game into overtime knotted at 57-57.

Eight of the 16 combined points in the first overtime were at the free throw line as the teams went back-and-forth, forcing a second extra period. The Rattlers scored seven of the first nine to take a five-point lead, 72-67 with 3:19 on the clock and pushed the lead to seven on a pair of
Davion Coleman (Houston) free throws with 1:27 remaining, but turnovers by the Gold and Blue allowed TAMIU to score the winning bucket with 0.6 on the clock and escape San Antonio with the victory.

Coleman led the Rattlers with 16 points, eight of them at the free throw line where he was 8-for-9. Both
Franklin Agu (London, England) and
Lachlan Bofinger (Sydney, Australia) collected double-doubles in the game. Agu scored 11 and brought down a game-high 14 rebounds, while Bofinger scored 15 and had 10 boards.Â

Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas) scored 11 – all in the first half – while Dinwiddie chipped in 10. Dinwiddie also had a game-high four steals and
Jalon Johnson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) led the game with four assists.

Jaylen Thompson came off the bench for the Dustdevils to score a game-high 20 points, while Emaniel Alexandre grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

Despite the Rattlers having two student-athletes reach double figures in rebounds, they were outrebounded on the night 46-to-35 and were held to only eight on the offensive glass.

St. Mary's hosts Texas A&M Kingsville on Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. The Javelinas lost 85-67 in Austin at St. Edward's on Thursday evening.
