SAN ANTONIO — Behind a career-high 29 points from senior forward
Lachlan Bofinger, the St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team erased the bad taste from both Thursday evening's double overtime loss as well as the overtime loss in Kingsville on Jan. 4 with an 89-81 victory against Texas A&M Kingsville.
Â
Bofinger added a game-high 10 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season. Four other Rattlers (9-11, 5-9 Lone Star Conference) scored in double figures as senior
Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas) poured in a season-high 19 points with a 7-for-7 performance at the free throw line and four triples.
Franklin Agu (London, England) came off the bench to score 11 and grab eight rebounds, while both senior
Edward Manuel (Lake Charles, La.) and senior
Diego Gonzalez (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) each scored 10.
Â
Senior point guard
Jalon Johnson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) led the game with six assists and a career-high tying four steals.
Â
As it has been all season, the key to the Rattlers' success was in their rebounding as they outrebounded the Javelinas 31-to-22 and they grabbed 12 on the offensive end of the court. StMU turned those 12 offensive rebounds into 21 second chance points and limited the Javelinas (5-15, 3-12 Lone Star) to only four.
Â
St. Mary's looks to continue the momentum out on the road, facing UT Tyler on Thursday evening before heading into Dallas on Saturday to take on fifth-ranked DBU.
