SAN ANTONIO — Career highs in kills by three players helped lift the St. Mary's University Volleyball team to a four-set victory over Lubbock Christian on Friday evening, 16-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-18.
Junior Landi Withers (Stephenville, Texas) led the match and tied her career-high with 19 kills, while freshman
Taylor Alston (San Antonio) tied her career-high with a dozen and sophomore
Madi Milligan (San Antonio) posted a career-high six kills and six blocks, leading all players in that category.
The Rattlers (14-8, 6-5) got off to a bit of a rocky start, hitting .059 in the first set, while the Lady Chaps (11-10, 7-4) hit .444, but StMU flipped the script and got better each set, hitting .217 in the second set, .333 in the third and .371 in the fourth for the victory. Virthe ended the night trailing Withers by one kill, amassing 18 while hitting .406 (18-5-32). She also doubled her career-high in service aces with four and added four blocks and four digs. Cruz was right behind Virthe in aces, tying her career-high with three. Junior libero
Alyssa Koehl (New Braunfels, Texas) once again led the match in digs, collecting 18, while senior setter
Cali Nims (Corpus Christi, Texas) notched 50 assists and 13 digs for her 13th double-double of the season.
The Rattlers wrap up the home portion of the 2024 regular season on Saturday when they host #14 Angelo State at 2 p.m. for Senior Day. The Rambelles swept St. Edward's on Friday evening.
