RICHARDSON, Texas — For the first time in her career, St. Mary's University junior outside hitter
Landri Withers has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The Stephenville, Texas native helped the Rattlers remain undefeated in Lone Star play and improve to 12-3 overall with their sixth- and seventh-consecutive sweeps over Oklahoma Christian and Cameron. She hit .474 for the week, averaging 5.00 kills per set and 2.73 digs per set, committing only three errors in the six sets from the left side.Â
Withers recorded her seventh double-double of the year with 14 kills and 11 digs on Friday in the win over the Eagles and came back with a season-high 16 kills on a .625 hitting percentage on Saturday against the Aggies. Her 16 kills were only two less than the entire Cameron team. Her .625 is the 10th-highest in a single match in St. Mary's history and the fifth highest since the advent of 25-point rally scoring - and she is the only left-side hitter in the top 10.
Withers is the third Rattler this season to be honored by the league, and the first-ever to be named Offensive Player of the Week. Senior setter
Cali Nims (Corpus Christi, Texas) was named Setter of the Week on Sept. 16 and junior libero
Alyssa Koehl (New Braunfels, Texas) was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23.
The Rattlers remain home this week, hosting a pair of Patriot teams in UT Tyler on Friday at 6 p.m. and DBU on Saturday at 2 p.m.
