SAN ANGELO, Texas — The St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team snapped a three-match unbeaten streak at Angelo State on Wednesday night, falling 2-0.
The Rattlers (5-4-3, 3-2-2) kept the Rambelles (7-1-3, 5-0-1) off the scoreboard in the first half, but ASU made adjustments at halftime and came out firing in the second half, notching 11 shots after the break, and got through the Rattlers defense in both the 55th and 75th minutes for the win.
Both junior
Shelby Paniagua (Cibolo, Texas) and fifth-year senior
Natalie Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas) recorded a shot on goal, as two of the Rattlers' three shots were on target.
Senior goalkeeper
Rebecca Difronzo (Bari, Italy) added four more saves to her school record, giving her 265 in her career, while senior
Melida Garza (New Braunfels, Texas) played the final eight minutes in goal without facing a shot on goal.
The Rattlers return home after two straight on the road, hosting Texas Woman's on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Pioneers defeated Eastern New Mexico 2-0 in Denton on Wednesday evening.
