Alexander Carey helped put away the final non-conference match of the season for the St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team.

The 18th-ranked Rattlers shut out Eastern New Mexico 3-0 on Wednesday night at Sigma Beta Chi Field, wrapping up non-conference play with a 6-2-1 record.

Junior
Bradley Greene (Essex, England) started the scoring for the Rattlers, taking a feed from freshman
Avery Estell (Flower Mound, Texas). Estell lobbed the ball downfield into the box and Greene beat the defender, punching the ball into the lower left corner for the 1-0 lead in the 60th minute.

In the 73rd minute, sophomore
Lewis Coates (Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England) took a throw-in for the Rattlers, then hustled down into the box and curled the pass to Carey, who scored his third goal of the year.

Freshman
Gael Gallegos (Laredo, Texas) stole the ball on the ensuing kickoff and took a shot from midfield, resulting in a corner kick for the Gold and Blue. Gallegos found the ball at the top right of the box after the corner was cleared by the Greyhounds (2-4-2), lobbed it into the middle of the box and Carey headed it in to give him his second brace of the year.

Andre Schlaefli (Katy, Texas) made four saves, recording his second clean sheet of the year and the team's fourth.

The Rattlers begin Lone Star Conference play on October 4 against Lubbock Christian for the annual Pink Out/Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. or approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's match.
