SAN ANTONIO — A storm rolled through San Antonio midway through the St. Mary's University Women's Soccer match on Thursday, and the Rattlers took advantage of the wind, as
Shelby Paniagua scored on a free kick for a 1-1 draw against Florida Southern College.
Â
Paniagua, a sophomore from Cibolo, Texas, scored her third goal of the season in the 27th minute to help the Rattlers to a 1-1-3 overall record. She now has 10 points on the season (3 goals, 4 assists), which more than doubles any of her teammates.Â
Â
The Moccasins tied the score in the 72nd minute off a steal by Bianca Purpura that she sent into the back of the net. It is the third consecutive draw for the Rattlers this season.
Â
Junior goalkeeper
Rebecca Difronzo (Bari, Italy) made two saves as the gusty winds knocked several shots off target.
Â
The Rattlers took seven shots each half to out-shoot the Mocs by one, 14-13, and each team had three shots on goal.
