KINGSVILLE, Texas – In the first round of the LSC Tournament preview, the St. Mary's University Volleyball team dropped a hard-fought four-set match to Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday, 19-25, 18-25, 25-22, 13-25.
 
The Rattlers move to 5-4 on the season, with three of the four losses coming at the hands of Lone Star foes. 
 
For the second time this season, the Rattlers had four players record double figures in digs as they amassed a season-best 86. Both junior setter 
Cali Nims (Corpus Christi, Texas) and sophomore 
Isabella Waggoner (Texas City, Texas) led the team with 17 each – a season-high for Nims and a career-best for Waggoner. Sophomore libero 
Alyssa Koehl (New Braunfels, Texas) added 16 and sophomore OH 
Landri Withers (Stephenville, Texas) chipped in 12.
 
Withers led the team with 12 kills, notching her third double-double of the season. The Lions also picked on her in serve receive, but she notched 29 with no errors. 
 
Sophomore 
Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) provided a spark off the bench, ending with 11 kills in three sets and sophomore 
Dallasstar Johnson (San Antonio) added eight kills and hit a team-best .300 (8-2-20).
 
Nims collected a season-best 31 assists, posting her fifth double-double of the season and 21st of her career.
 
Nyia Anderson led UAFS with 18 kills, while Caelyn Gunn tallied a match-best 27 digs as the Lions recorded 100 digs on the afternoon. 
 
The Rattlers face Angelo State on Friday at 3 p.m. and the host Texas A&M Kingsville Javelinas on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the final two non-conference matches of the season.
