SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University Women's Tennis team battled both the opposition and the extreme temperatures at the Kimbell Memorial Invitational over the weekend.
Junior transfer
Paula Garrote (Cartagena, Spain) was the only Rattler to go undefeated in singles play, posting a record of 2-0. She only dropped five games during the two matches.
Katrina Berban (Seguin, Texas),
Bailey Godwin (San Antonio) and freshman
Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) each went 2-1 in singles. Both Berban and Godwin faced a trio of Lady Chaps from Lubbock Christian in their three matches, while Wu played one from each of the other teams in the tournament (LCU, UT Permian Basin and DBU).
Wu also collected three victories in doubles play (3-0), going 2-0 with
Kyndall Quiroz on Friday and pairing with Godwin for a 6-4 win on Saturday.
The Rattlers head south to Kingsville next weekend for the Javelina Invitational beginning on Friday.
