SAN ANGELO, Texas – A career-high seven strikeouts for
Madeline Bloom helped lead the St. Mary's Softball team to its second-straight shutout over Angelo State, 3-0.

Bloom, a sophomore from Poway, California almost doubled her previous high in Ks of four from March 4 against Western New Mexico. With the win, she improves to 7-4 on the year.

The Rattlers (23-14, 13-11 Lone Star) win the series against Angelo State (22-16, 14-13 Lone Star) and outscored the Rambelles 16-0 over the last two games.

Junior
Lauren Gonzales (San Antonio) led the Rattlers with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, while six others in the lineup recorded one hit each as the team scored its three runs on eight hits.

The Rattlers scored first in the top of the fourth. Junior
Reba Reyes (Brownsville, Texas) doubled to left field on the ninth pitch of her at bat and she scored with two outs on a single to centerfield by
Lauren Garcia (San Antonio). She moved to second on a wild pitch and a single by
Ericka Gomez (Stafford, Texas) placed runners on the corners.
Kaylynne Ruiz (Eagle Pass, Texas) took a ball back up the middle for a single to plate Garcia for the 2-0 advantage.

In the fifth, junior
Destiny Salinas (San Antonio) led off with a single to left field but she was erased on a fielder's choice off the bat of Gonzales. Reyes grounded out, but advanced Gonzales to second.
Jamison Holder (Magnolia, Texas) singled to left to drive in Gonzales for the third run of the afternoon.

The Rattlers host West Texas A&M for Homecoming week. The teams begin the three-game series on Friday at 3:30 p.m. with a doubleheader. The Buffs are 29-4 this season and have won eight straight.
