Baseball Drops Both Games of DH at #3 ASU

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The St. Mary's Baseball team had opportunities late in the second game of the doubleheader, but dropped both games at #3 Angelo State, 6-1 and 4-3 on Saturday.

The two teams conclude the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Rattlers (11-13, 10-13 Lone Star) look for their fourth-straight series split.

For the first time all year, senior Clay Bradford (Atascocita, Texas) didn't reach base in the first game of the day but answered in game two going 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Senior Brandon Broughton (Corpus Christi, Texas) was also 2-for-2 in the second game with two RBI after not starting in game one.

In the first game, junior Easton Parrish (La Vernia, Texas) notched two of the team's four hits, including his team-leading sixth double of the season.

Bradford fell to 3-2 on the hill this season, giving up six runs on six hits with an uncharacteristic five walks and no strikeouts. Karlo Kalifa (Round Rock, Texas) worked the final 0.2, allowing one hit.

In the nightcap, John Curtis (Athens, Tenn.) fell to 1-2. He gave up three earned runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Senior Josh Buske (San Antonio) allowed a hit and hit a batter in the seventh inning.
