FRISCO, Texas – For her efforts on the hardwood this season, St. Mary's freshman
Gabby Elliott was Wednesday named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year.

In addition to being named the top freshman in the league, Elliott was also named to the All-Freshman Team and All-Conference Second Team.

The San Antonio newcomer tied the St. Mary's single-season scoring record for freshmen with 365 points. Her 13.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game averages both ranked in the top 12 in the league. Elliott also ranks 11th in free throw percentage (.730), 12th in blocked shots (0.93/game) and fifth with 2.6 offensive rebounds per game.

Elliott played in all 28 games, starting in 17 for the Rattlers, which finished the season 8-20 and 4-18 in Lone Star Conference play. She was the only freshman in the league named to the first or second team.

Lubbock Christian's Grace Foster was named Player of the Year, while Sawyer Lloyd from Angelo State earned Defensive Player of the Year. Eastern New Mexico's Deja Adrian was tabbed Newcomer of the Year and UT Tyler's Tina Machalova earned Sixth Woman of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches.Â
