CONROE, Texas – The St. Mary's Softball team remained unblemished on the season with a pair of wins on Saturday at the DII Spring Kickoff Invitational. The Rattlers won 5-1 against Arkansas Tech in the morning and followed it up with a 5-3 victory over Pittsburg State.
 
St. Mary's (4-0) stayed aggressive on the base paths, stealing five bases in five attempts during the two games, while being patient at the plate and drawing 11 walks.
 
Junior 
Reba Reyes (Brownsville, Texas) was 4-for-6 with two RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases on day two of the season, while fellow junior 
Ericka Gomez (Stafford, Texas) was 3-for-5 and senior 
Lauren Garcia (San Antonio) drove in three of the team's nine runs in a 2-for-6 day at the plate.
 
In the circle, both senior 
Catalina Cavazos (Houston) and sophomore 
Savannah Youngblood (Kingwood, Texas) recorded their second wins of the year and sophomore 
Madeline Bloom (Poway, Calif.) picked up her second save.
 
The Rattlers close out the tournament on Sunday against #8 Central Oklahoma at 11 a.m. The Bronchos are 3-1 in the tournament – all against Lone Star Conference foes.
 
ARKANSAS TECH RECAP
Arkansas Tech jumped out to the early 1-0 lead with a triple and double in the first inning, but the Rattlers settled down, not allowing another run the remainder of the morning in a 5-1 win.
 
Cavazos pitched her second-straight complete game, allowing one run on six hits with no walks and nine strikeouts. 
 
StMU answered the Golden Suns immediately, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and tacked on one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
 
Garcia went 2-for-2 at the plate, while Reyes scored twice and sophomore 
Jamison Holder (Magnolia, Texas) drove in a pair.
 
PITTSBURG STATE RECAP
After scoring one in the top of the first, the Rattlers had to fight back from a 3-1 deficit, plating three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth for the 5-3 win over the Gorillas.
 
Reyes was 3-for-4, while Gomez was 2-for-2 and Garcia drove in two.
 
Freshman 
Emily Ayala (San Antonio) started in the circle, working one inning in a no decision. Youngblood worked the next four frames, earning the win after allowing one run on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts and Bloom pitched the final two frames and struck out two in facing the minimum six batters.
