Comebacks Fall Short for Baseball in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY – Despite junior outfielder Clay Bradford tying the school record with six hits and hitting for the cycle, the St. Mary's Baseball team was unable to mount the comeback in the second game, dropping both games to Oklahoma Christian, 12-1 and 15-11.

Bradford went 7-for-10 in the twinbill with two doubles, a triple and a home run. He drove in three and scored four. Freshman Jacob King (San Antonio) was also 4-for-9, while junior Devin Goins (San Antonio) was 3-for-6 with a pair of walks and they each drove in three runs.

The Rattlers (8-9, 7-9 Lone Star Conference) have next week off from competition, returning to action on March 10 with a four-game series against Lubbock Christian. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.

St. Mary's scored one run on four hits, while the Eagles (7-5, 7-5 Lone Star) scored 12 runs on nine hits and were aided by three StMU errors.

After sophomore Jorge Cuevas (El Paso, Texas) drew a two-out walk in the seventh, King tripled to left center to ruin the shutout.
