WICHITA FALLS, Texas – St. Mary's battled not only Midwestern State, but the chilly elements in Wichita Falls on Saturday, dropping a 6-1 decision.

Bill Macom. "We played at a pretty good level at each line today and battled to the finish."

Alvaro Soler made the most of his opportunity moving up the ladder, winning in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2 to improve to 2-0 in Lone Star play.Â

Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) was involved in the only three-set match of the day. He won the opening set 6-2, then dropped the second by the same score. The two then battled to a 10-7 final in the international doubles tiebreaker.

St. Mary's will face Mississippi College at UT Tyler at 2:30 on Saturday, March 4 before taking on UT Dallas on Sunday at Noon.
