Home Again: The St. Mary's Volleyball team returns home for the second weekend, hosting Eastern New Mexico on Friday for the annual Pink Out match, followed by Senior Day on Saturday against Lubbock Christian.
Sites Announced: The location of the final two "home" matches have been announced. On Friday, Nov. 3, the Rattlers will play UT Tyler at 4 p.m. on the Trinity campus at the Bell Center, while on Saturday, Nov. 4, DBU and StMU will square off inside the Paul Taylor Fieldhouse.
Series History: The Rattlers hold a 10-7 lead in the all-time series with Eastern New Mexico and a 12-10 advantage in the meetings with Lubbock Christian. StMU is also 4-0 all-time at home against the Greyhounds, while they are 3-4 against the Lady Chaps. Both series began on the same day, as the Rattlers faced ENMU and LCU in a tournament in Portales back on Sept. 11, 1992.
Season First: The match at Cameron on Friday was the first time in 2023 the Rattlers won a match after dropping the first set. The team entered the match with an 0-7 record when losing the opening set.
D-D-D-Defense: In conference play, St. Mary's currently ranks third with 18.80 digs per set. That's over 2.5 digs more than the team's season average of 16.20 digs per set.
A Wealth of Options: Six different Rattlers are averaging more than 1.5 kills per set this season. Sophomore OH Landri Withers leads the team and ranks seventh in the Lone Star Conference statistics with 2.98 per set.
Playing Time: Only libero Alyssa Koehl has played in all 55 sets this season. DS Isabella Waggoner has played in 53 and MB Dallasstar Johnson has played in 51. Sixteen of the 19 on the roster have played in at least 10 sets.
Going Streaking: Both Alicia Virthe and Landri Withers have recorded double figures in kills in each of their last three matches. Withers did not play at West Texas A&M on Saturday. Alyssa Koehl also has double digits in digs in three-straight matches, recording nine or more in all 15 this season.
Record Book Watch: Junior Cali Nims is one service ace shy of moving into the top 20 in St. Mary's history in career aces. Nims currently has 76, while both Anna Seals (2002-05) and Alissa Tolbert (2018-2021) are tied for 20th with 77.
Aces Are Wild: Four different Rattlers have served 10 or more aces on the year as Cali Nims has 17, Alyssa Koehl 15, Dallasstar Johnson 13 and Isabella Waggoner 12. Two others are on the cusp of hitting double digits as both Haleigh Wilk and Landri Withers have nine each.Â
