Quartet of Women's Tennis Players Wrap up Fall

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — In the final tournament of the fall, the quartet of St. Mary's University Women's Tennis players that traveled to the Cooper Outdoor Advertising Islander Open all saw good results.
 
"It was really good to see some new doubles combinations that really clicked," said Director of Tennis Bill Macom. "Everyone played solid singles for a majority of their matches, too. It was a strong finish to the semester."
 
Freshman Selina Wu (San Gabriel, Calif.) continued the storied beginning to her collegiate career, going 3-1 in Flight A with a pair of straight-set victories over rivals from Angelo State. Both junior Paula Garrote (Cartagena, Spain) and sophomore Stela Sifuentes (Eagle Pass, Texas) were 2-1 in flight B and sophomore Alessia Terlizzi (Andria, Italy) was 1-2.
 
Both teams of Wu and Sifuentes and Garrotte and Terlizzi were 2-1 in doubles play, with all four victories coming over the Rambelles.
 
The Rattlers wrapped up the fall tournament season on Sunday evening and will begin the dual competition season on January 26 with an exhibition at UIW at 11 a.m.
