Busy Week: The St. Mary's Volleyball team plays three matches this week, hosting Texas A&M International on Wednesday before heading back out on the road for a match Friday at Oklahoma Christian and Saturday at UAFS.
Series History: The Rattlers hold a slim 20-15 edge in the all-time series with Texas A&M International, though they've dropped the last five matches. The two teams have not faced each other in San Antonio until the opening matches in the spring, 2021 season. StMU is 3-0 all-time against Oklahoma Christian and the Rattlers are 2-0 on the road. UAFS holds a large 23-5 lead against StMU in the series but four of the Rattler wins are in the last five years.
Setting the Table: For the first time in St. Mary's history two setters have hit the 1,000 career assist milestone in the same season. Junior Cali Nims did so in the season opener against Davenport and now has 1,426, while senior Aislan Lennon did so on Friday at UT Permian Basin and she now has 1,012.
Rewriting the Books: Sophomore OH Landri Withers took 41 swings at Angelo State on Saturday, which is the second-most in the rally scoring era in a three-game set. Withers also ranks twice in the top 5 in a four-game set and once in a five-game set in her second season.
Countdown is On: After recording four or more blocks in the six of the last eight matches, sophomore MB Dallasstar Johnson is inching closer to the top 20 in three statistical categories on the StMU career charts. She is three solo blocks away from tying Alyssa Werner (1997-98) for 20th on career charts with 25, seven block assists from tying both Andy Salazar (1996-99) and Megan Isbell (2013-16) for 19th with 143 and three total blocks away from tying Salazar and Werner for 20th.Â
Double Trouble: Cali Nims moved into a tie for eighth in St. Mary's history with her 25th career double-double at UT Permian Basin. Nims is tied with Morgan Spencer (2004).
Gotta Dig It: For the first time this season, libero Alyssa Koehl surpassed the 20-dig milestone in a three-set match with 21 digs at Angelo State. The sophomore has four 20-dig matches this season and 11 in her career. Her career-high in a three-set match is 25 digs from Oct. 21, 2022 against Oklahoma Christian.
Aces Are Wild: Three Rattlers have served 20 or more aces on the year and six have collected double digits. Alyssa Koehl has 25, Dallasstar Johnson has 21 and Cali Nims has 20. The Rattlers have served 15 more aces than their opponents and rank seventh in the Lone Star Conference with 1.66 aces per set.
