ROME, Ga. — St. Mary's University freshman
Selina Wu posted a record of 1-2 at the ITA Cup over the weekend, winning her final match to end the tournament on a high note.

Wu defeated Cristiana Miruna Tudor from Azusa Pacific in the South bracket semifinals 6-3, 7-6 (5). The finals for the back bracket were not completed due to rain in the area on several days.

"This was a great experience for Selina," said Director of Tennis
Bill Macom. "I think she got a lot out of each day and has a better understanding of what to practice when she returns to campus. We were able to see the talent level from all the regions for men and women and as a coaching staff are going to need to make a few more adjustments to our practice plan moving forward."

In the opening round, Wu faced Lexie Weir from Nova Southeastern and won the opening set 6-3 before dropping each of the next two by identical scores of 6-2.

On Friday, Wu lost in straight sets to Nebraska-Kearney's Jazmin Zamorano 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the West bracket.

In the South semifinals, Wu trailed 3-0 in the second set, but fought back to force the tiebreaker and pull out the victory.

She was the lone freshman in the field of 16 and one of two from the Lone Star Conference, joining Texas A&M's Alessa Maier, who went 2-1 and advanced to the West finals.

Wu will rejoin her teammates for the final tournament of the fall, competing in the Islander Open at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Oct. 27-29.
