A Pair of PK's by Foley Lead Men's Soccer to Win

SAN ANTONIO ­– Cian Foley scored on a pair of penalty kicks in helping the St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday evening.
 
Foley, a senior from Wexford, Ireland scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season and connected on his fourth game-winner in 2023. In the 28th minute, sophomore Adam Aboohamidi was fouled inside the penalty box and Foley beat the diving goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. 
 
The four game-winners for Foley rank him fourth in St. Mary's single-season history with Pato Botello Faz holding the record with six in 2018.
 
Three-and-a-half minutes later, Foley had another opportunity as senior Josua Hall (Baiersbronn, Baden Wurttemberg, Germany) was tripped just inside the left corner of the penalty box. It was Hall's first match back after being injured in the second contest of the year. Foley again beat the keeper for the 2-0 tally.
 
The score remained 2-0 until the 89th minute when John Osadolor Ighede found Ellis Jones in the box for the 2-1 final score.
 
 
The Rattlers host the Battle of the Saints match on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. St. Edward's restarted its men's soccer program this season and the Hilltoppers are at Eastern New Mexico on Saturday night.
