RICHARDSON, Texas – St. Mary's Women's Soccer player
Juni Ejere was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week after the opening week of play in 2022, the league announced Monday.
Â
Ejere, a senior forward from Weatherford, Texas, scored the first two goals of the season for the Rattlers and added an assist on the first goal of the second game, helping the team start 2-0 for the first time since 2017. Against Southern Nazarene, Ejere scored twice in an 8-and-a-half minute stretch. Two days later, against Missouri Western, she found a streaking
Eliza Merrion just one minute into the contest for the team's first three goals on the day.
Â
This is the second weekly award for Ejere in the league, as she was also named Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 20, 2021.
Â
Ejere is currently tied for third in the Lone Star Conference statistics with five points, two goals and she's tied for second with one assist, trailing only teammate
Megan Copeland who has two assists in two contests.
Â
Ejere and the Rattlers remain at home, hosting Felician at 7 p.m. on Friday at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
