ARLINGTON, Texas – In its first-ever Lone Star Conference Championship, the St. Mary's Men's Tennis Team's run came to an end in the semifinals, falling 4-0 to #33 and top-seeded Midwestern State.

Top-seeded Midwestern State took the doubles points with a pair of quick 6-1 wins at both No. 1 and 2. The No. 3 team of
Sebastian Azcui (La Paz, Bolivia) and
Chad Nguyen (College Station, Texas) were knotted at 3-3 with the Mustangs duo when play headed to singles.

All three singles victories for the Mustangs (17-5) came in straight sets, but the Rattlers (17-6) had won the first set in the other three matches when the match was called.

Sophomore
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) won the first set 6-3 at No. 2 and they were on serve in the second set, 2-3 when everything ended.

At No. 3 singles, senior
Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastián, Spain) was within one game of a victory, 6-2, 5-2 and freshman
Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) won his first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (1) and he was tied at 3-3 in the second set.

The Rattlers (16-6) are ranked fourth in the most recent NCAA Regional rankings and will await word to see if their season will continue. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. on NCAA.com.
After the conclusion of the Lone Star Championship, sophomore
Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) was named to the Lone Star All-Tournament team.
