SAN ANTONIO – In the final non-conference match of the regular season, the St. Mary's Men's Tennis Team defeated Our Lady of the Lake 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rattlers improved to 16-4 on the season and will face their final Lone Star Conference foe on Saturday when they travel to UT Tyler for a 2 p.m. first serve.

All three doubles teams were victorious to give the Rattlers the early 1-0 edge. Sophomore

Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) for the first time all season, won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, while the No. 1 and No. 3 teams both won 6-3.

Our Lady of the Lake (2-7) won both No. 1 and No. 2 singles, while the Rattlers won the other four ladder positions for the 5-2 win. Sophomore
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) dropped only two games, winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 and Soler lost only three en route to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6.Â

Oskar Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia) needed a tiebreaker to win the first set, 7-6 (2) and used a late break of serve in the second for the 7-5 straight-sets victory. Llosa won the first set 6-3, but stumbled in the second 6-4 before bouncing back with the 7-5 third-set win at No. 5.
