SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Men's Tennis Team climbed into the national rankings this week, but it wasn't enough as they fell 6-1 to a tough No. 38 Midwestern State on Friday afternoon.

The Rattlers (14-4, 3-2 Lone Star Conference), currently ranked 72nd in the nation, pushed the Mustangs (13-6, 6-0 Lone Star) to the wall in doubles action as the No. 3 duo of sophomore
Sebastian Azcui (La Paz, Bolivia) and senior
Chad Nguyen (College Station, Texas) won 6-3. Sophomore
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) and senior
Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastian, Spain) forced the third-ranked team in the nation to a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles, but eventually lost 8-6 in the breaker.

Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) won his 12th match of the spring with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles for the team's lone point. Llosa has won four straight in singles play and his doubles partner of
Niklas Knoerr (Tübingen, Germany) played one of the closest matches possible, falling 5-7, 7-6 (4), [9-11] at No. 4.

The Rattlers will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday against DBU, though the team has made a late addition to the home portion of the schedule, hosting Our Lady of the Lake on Wednesday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m.
