Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Women's Tennis team continued to roll in Lone Star Conference play, shutting out UAFS, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon.

The Rattlers are now 3-0 in league play and 11-2 overall after winning their fourth-straight match.

The three doubles teams combined to drop only five points, as the No. 1 tandem of senior
Ashley Penshorn (Montgomery, Texas) and junior
Angela Vargas (Del Rio, Texas) won 6-4, senior
Alice Thane (Elloughton, East Yorkshire, England) and sophomore
Elena Munoz (Corregidora, Queretaro, Mexico) won 6-1 and senior
Marina Vigil (Gijon, Spain) and junior
Gabi Ioannou (Melbourne, Australia) pitched a shutout with a 6-0 victory.

Penshorn, the defending Lone Star Conference Player of the Week, remained perfect in league play with a 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. Munoz was victorious at No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-1 for the third point of the match and Thane clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5.

Ioannou lost only three games in a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 and Vigil continued things with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 3. Vargas fought back to win in three after losing 6-2 in the first set. She won 6-3 in the second set and 12-10 in the tiebreaker third to complete the sweep.

The Rattlers, which entered the national rankings today at No. 47 after the conclusion of the match, take on fifth-ranked Cameron at 10 a.m. at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels.
