SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Women's Tennis Team took care of business on Saturday afternoon, defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville, 5-2 to remain undefeated in Lone Star Conference play.
 
Junior 
Angela Vargas (Del Rio, Texas) clinched the win for the Rattlers with the late break of serve in the second set at No. 3 singles, winning 6-3, 7-5 for the fourth point of the match.
 
Senior 
Alice Thane (Elloughton, East Yorkshire, England) put the exclamation point on the win, coming back after dropping the first set 6-1 to win 6-2, 6-4 in the next two sets.
 
The Rattlers (10-2, 2-0 Lone Star Conference) started the match by winning the doubles point. Freshman 
Bailey Godwin (San Antoni) and senior 
Ashley Penshorn (Montgomery, Texas) won 6-4 at No. 2 and just minutes later the No. 1 team of sophomore 
Elena Munoz (Corregidora, Queretaro, Mexico) and Thane with the same score.
 
Penshorn continued her dominant weekend, winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and junior 
Gabi Ioannou (Melbourne, Australia) dropped only one game in the 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 for the five points.
 
The Rattlers remain at home, hosting UAFS on Thursday at 12:30 on campus and Cameron on Friday at 10 am at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels.
