PENSACOLA, Fla. – The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team suffered its first setback of the 2022 season, falling 7-0 at No. 4 West Florida on Friday afternoon.

The Rattlers (10-1) were supposed to face Grand Valley State in the morning, but the match was cancelled due to rain in the area and it forced a later start against the Argonauts.

Freshman
Niklas Knoerr (Tübingen, Germany) and sophomore
Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, but the third team of junior
Sebastian Azcui (La Paz, Bolivia) and senior
Chad Nguyen (College Station, Texas) dropped a heartbreaking tiebreak 7-6 (1) to give the singles point to UWF.

In singles play at the sixth flight Llosa fought back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to win the second set by the identical score and then dropped the third-set tiebreaker, 10-7.

The other five ladder positions all dropped matches in straight sets.

St. Mary's closes out the long road trip on Saturday against West Alabama at 9 a.m.
