PENSACOLA, Fla. – The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team wrapped up its road trip to Florida with a close 4-3 loss to West Alabama on the West Florida campus.

The Rattlers (10-2) jumped out to the early lead with the doubles point, as they have done the majority of the season.

Sophomore Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) and senior Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastian, Spain) got a late break of serve to win 7-5, while junior Sebastian Azcui (La Paz, Bolivia) and freshman Mario Urdaneta (Houston) were victorious at No. 3 with a 6-4 score. Due to time constraints, the second doubles teams did not finish.

Sophomore Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) kept things rolling with his ninth victory in 10 matches this spring, winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.

After dropping the opening set 6-3, Munoz Baroja came back to win the next two sets with identical 6-3 scores at No. 2.

Both freshmen Niklas Knoerr (Tübingen, Germany) and Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) lost in tough three-set matches. Knoerr won the first set at #3 in tiebreak fashion, then dropped the next two 6-3, 6-4. Soler won the first set 6-4 and was up 5-3 in the second, but lost 7-5, 6-4.
