Men's Tennis Drops Close Decision to Close Spring Trip
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The St. Mary's Men's Tennis team wrapped up its road trip to Florida with a close 4-3 loss to West Alabama on the West Florida campus.

The Rattlers (10-2) jumped out to the early lead with the doubles point, as they have done the majority of the season.

Sophomore
Jake Faryniarz (San Antonio) and senior
Pablo Munoz Baroja (San Sebastian, Spain) got a late break of serve to win 7-5, while junior
Sebastian Azcui (La Paz, Bolivia) and freshman
Mario Urdaneta (Houston) were victorious at No. 3 with a 6-4 score. Due to time constraints, the second doubles teams did not finish.

Sophomore
Nicolas Llosa (Lima, Peru) kept things rolling with his ninth victory in 10 matches this spring, winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.

After dropping the opening set 6-3, Munoz Baroja came back to win the next two sets with identical 6-3 scores at No. 2.

Both freshmen
Niklas Knoerr (Tübingen, Germany) and
Alvaro Soler (Alicante, Spain) lost in tough three-set matches. Knoerr won the first set at #3 in tiebreak fashion, then dropped the next two 6-3, 6-4. Soler won the first set 6-4 and was up 5-3 in the second, but lost 7-5, 6-4.

The Rattlers play at Southwestern on March 29 before opening Lone Star Conference action on March 31 against UAFS at 3:30 p.m.
