SAN ANTONIO – Turnovers again proved costly for the St. Mary's Women's Basketball team as they dropped the final non-conference game of the season, 66-62 to Schreiner on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The bank was open for the Mountaineers as four of their late shots went in off the glass to complete the win over the Rattlers (5-5).
Â
Freshman
Gabby Elliott (San Antonio) posted the first double-double of her collegiate career with 17 points and a career-high tying 10 rebounds to lead the team in both categories. Senior
Tonia Bilic (Zagreb, Croatia) was the other Rattler to hit double digits in scoring with 13 – giving her seven straight games with 10 or more.
Â
The Rattlers out-rebounded Schreiner by 10, 44-34 and posted 13 assists on 21 made shots. Both Bilic and junior
Reyelle Frazier (Tacoma, Wash.) tied for team-high honors with four.
Â
The Mountaineers scored 23 points off the 22 Rattler miscues, while on the flip side StMU scored 12 off 16 Schreiner turnovers.Â
Â
SU was led by both Demauria Miles and Elisa Peralta with 17 points each, while Gabby Ivarra led the game with 16 rebounds.
Â
After playing four games in eight days the Rattlers now get a much-needed break for the holidays, returning to action at Buddy & Anna Meyer Court on Dec. 30 against Texas A&M Kingsville at 3 p.m.
