Jordan Drops 31 as Men’s Basketball Moves to 3-0 in League Play

LAWTON, Okla. – St. Mary's senior Caleb Jordan topped the 30-point scoring milestone for the second-time this season, pouring in 31 in an 81-66 victory at Cameron on Saturday evening.

Jordan, a senior guard from Midlothian, Texas, went 12-for-13 at the free throw line, led the contest with five assists, swiped three balls and blocked a shot in the Rattlers' (4-2, 3-0 Lone Star) fourth-straight victory. Jordan scored a career-best 33 points earlier this season at Regis.

Junior Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas) got the Rattlers started, hitting three consecutive three-pointers early as the team jumped out to a 13-1 lead. He ended the night with 17 points, 15 of which came in the first half. He also had a career-high four steals, including a pair late as the Rattlers pulled away.

The game featured 14 lead changes and five ties. The Rattlers took the lead for good on a triple by Jordan with 14:39 remaining. It was the middle of a stretch where Jordan scored 16 of 19 for StMU.

Senior Emmanuel Ewuzie (San Antonio) led the game with 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive end of the floor.

There were six technical fouls called in the game, with two sets of offsetting technicals as tempers ran a little high on both sides. After the second set was called and Caylen Goff-Brown made two free throws, the Rattlers opened up the game with 14-0 run – including seven consecutive by junior Jalon Johnson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) – and went on to win 81-66.

Goff-Brown led the Aggies with 27 points, 11 of which came at the free throw line, and Jaden Okon brought down 10 boards as CU outrebounded the Rattlers 31-to-25.

St. Mary's shot 52.8 percent for the game with an outstanding 65.2 percent second half (15-for-23). The Rattlers also capitalized on opponent turnovers for the second-straight game, scoring 30 of their 81 points off CU miscues.

StMU was without the leadership of head coach Jim Zeleznak, as he remained in San Antonio due to illness.

The Rattlers head to Wichita Falls to take on Midwestern State on Monday at 7:30 p.m. The Mustangs host St. Edward's a bit later on Saturday evening and are searching for their first league victory.
