SAN ANTONIO – A dominating performance on the boards helped lift St. Mary's Women's Basketball to a 67-52 victory over crosstown foe Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday evening.

The Rattlers (2-1) outrebounded the Saints (2-2) 49-to-30 as five players grabbed five or more caroms for the Gold & Blue.Â

Gabby Elliott (San Antonio) came off the bench to lead all players with nine rebounds, while sophomore
Faith Phillips (San Marcos, Texas) brought down eight and senior
Natalia Ryng (Gdynia, Poland) chipped in seven.

Teanna Huggins (San Antonio) tied for the team lead with 10 points each, while Elliott narrowly missed her first double-double with eight points. Phillips and senior

Reyelle Frazier (Tacoma, Wash.) had the first two steals of her Rattlers career, while five different players had two assists.

The two teams went back-and-forth throughout the first half as the only long scoring run was when the Rattlers scored the final seven of the first quarter to take the 15-8 advantage at 3:30.

The Saints scored nine of the first 13 points of the third quarter to take a four-point lead with 6:05 on the clock, but the Rattlers answered by scoring 14 of the final 16 of the quarter, as well as the first two of the fourth quarter to build a 10-point lead, 46-36 with 9:35 remaining. After a free throw by OLLU, the Rattlers scored the next seven for their largest lead of the contest at 16, 53-37 at 6:45.

All 14 players for the Rattlers saw action in at least a minute, 11 of them scored at least one point and 10 grabbed at least one rebound.
