DENVER – Despite a career-best 33 points from
Caleb Jordan, the St. Mary's Men's Basketball team couldn't complete the last-minute comeback at Regis, dropping a 60-56 decision.

Jordan, a fifth-year senior from Midlothian, Texas, took over the game scoring 20 points in the second half which included 7-of-8 from the free throw line as he drew seven fouls. Jordan bettered his previous career high of 29 from Feb. 29, 2020 against St. Edward's. His total ties for the 11th-most in school history in a single game.

Tyler Caron (Longview, Texas) chipped in 13 points as the pair scored 46 of the team's 56 points on the night. Caron also led the team with six rebounds as the club was out-rebounded by 14.

St. Mary's (0-2) led by four at the break, 28-24, but the Rangers (1-1) scored the first 13 points of the second stanza to open up a nine-point lead at the first media break. Jordan scored the next 13 points of the contest to give the lead back to the Rattlers, 41-38 at the 9:51 mark.

With five minutes remaining, the Rangers went on another long run, scoring eight straight for the 54-46 with 3:14 to play. Caron grabbed an offensive board and put it back in to cut the Regis lead to two with 20 seconds left, but David Simental made four of his 14-14 free throw attempts down the stretch to ice the Rattlers.

Diego Gonzalez (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) each had two assists to tie for the team lead, while senior
Ryan Leonard (Kerry, Ireland) led the game with four steals.

The Rattlers return to San Antonio, but play a road contest with an exhibition at UTSA on Monday at 7 p.m. The team hosts Huston Tillotson in the home opener on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
