Women's Soccer Draws Scoreless at TAMIU

LAREDO, Texas – Sophomore Melida Garza made the most of her first start in goal for St. Mary's, making five saves in a scoreless draw at Texas A&M International on Wednesday evening.

Garza, a native of New Braunfels, Texas, made her first career start in her seventh game with the Rattlers.

The Rattlers (8-2-2, 2-2-2) have not allowed a goal in three consecutive contests and this is just the second tie in 38 games between StMU and the Dust Devils (3-5-4, 0-3-4). It has been 347 straight minutes, dating back to the 13th minute of the Sept. 21 match at #25 Angelo State since allowing a goal.

Freshman Shelby Panigua (Cibolo, Texas) had both of the team's shots on goal at TAMIU and the Rattlers were aggressive early with six of their seven shots coming in the first half.

St. Mary's returns home to host Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Eagles host Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday before traveling to San Antonio.
