DALLAS, Texas – Facing a team after it's had an upset loss is never an easy task and the St. Mary's Volleyball Team did it in both games this weekend, falling at DBU on Saturday afternoon 26-24, 25-19, 25-12.
Â
Five Rattlers (14-12, 10-5 Lone Star Conference) posted either five or six kills in the setback to the Patriots (21-5, 12-5 LSC) and nine collected between two and six digs as the Gold & Blue had a balanced attack.
Â
It is the first time in conference play the Rattlers have dropped back-to-back matches this season in the battle between a senior-laden team and a freshmen-heavy squad as the Patriots honored five seniors before the match began.
Â
Junior
Brianna Morris-Worth (Yukon, Okla.), serving for the first time in almost a month, led the team with two aces and senior
Sadie Hough (Cleburne, Texas) paced the team with three blocks.
Â
St. Mary's was extremely efficient, hitting .333 in the first set as freshman
Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) recorded five of her six kills and sophomore
Alicia Virthe (Orlando, Fla.) added three kills on four swings, forcing the Patriots to extra points. The club was only +1 in the kills-errors column in the remaining two sets.
Â
The Rattlers have one regular season match remaining on the schedule as they head to Texas A&M Kingsville on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Javelinas swept Texas Woman's on Saturday afternoon.
