Love' Tovar, the St. Mary's Women's Soccer team couldn't overcome the top-ranked team in the nation, falling 2-1 to DBU on Wednesday night.

Tovar kicked the team's second penalty kick of the year in the 61st minute, beating the Patriots (10-1-1, 6-1-1 Lone Star) goalkeeper for the final tally. Tovar was one of five Rattlers (9-3-2, 3-3-2 LSC) to play all 90 minutes in the game.

DBU jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the 14th minute and added its second goal 13 minutes into the second half.

The Rattlers are tied for fifth in the conference standings with Lubbock Christian with five games remaining in the regular season, while DBU holds a one-point lead over Angelo State for first.

St. Mary's begins a three-game road swing on Saturday at UT Permian Basin. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
