The Rattlers came up short in a hard-fought 'Battle of the Saints,' falling to the Hilltoppers 1-0 in extra time. It was a defensive battle throughout the entire match.
St. Edward's scored the game's only goal, in the first minute of extra time, giving the Hilltoppers the win in the 91st minute. Each defense held its ground, only combining 14 shots throughout the entire game.
The Rattlers had 2 shots on goal compared to the Hilltoppers 1, but St. Edwards outshot St. Mary's 10-4 in total. The Rattlers had 4 more corner kicks than St. Edwards, but none were able to find the back of the net.
The Rattlers still hold a winning record of 5-3 and return for a three-game homestand beginning Saturday.
