THE RECAPÂ
For the second game in a row, the Rattlers fell in overtime by the score of 1-0. Midwestern State came away with the games only score in the 94th minute off of a strike from inside the box. Â
It was a defensive battle the entire way through. In a game that mirrored the St. Edward's contest, the Rattlers had many opportunities, but could not find the back of the net. The Rattlers outshot the Mustangs, but only 6 of the 21 shots were on goal. Â
The rattlers had nine corner kicks, to the Mustangs two, and had multiple chances at the goal with very good looks, but the Mustangs defense remained strong all game long, with the goalie recording six saves.Â
The Rattlers have a week of to regroup and prepare for a matchup with Eastern New Mexico, next Saturday.Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOWÂ
- The Rattlers were in attack mode, outshooting the Mustangs 21-13.Â
- This is only the 14th meeting between the two schools.Â
- St. Mary's had defeated Midwestern State in the previous two meetings.
HEAD COACH KEVIN DRIGGS ON SATURDAY'S GAMEÂ
"It was a hard-fought game, but we need to learn to win in overtime. We go to overtime every season I've been here, and we can't seem to win, so we are doing something wrong. We played good soccer. The other team won, but I still think we probably deserved an opportunity."Â
UP NEXTÂ
