SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Women's Tennis team was well-represented in the 2021 Lone Star Conference Tennis awards announced by the league office on Thursday. The Rattlers had six players earn an award.
Ashley Penshorn highlighted the awards for the Rattlers as the junior was named to the All-Academic squad as well as being a first team All-Conference selection. Penshorn finished the regular season with an 18-2 singles record and a No. 1 ranking in the South Central Region.
Maria Garcia and
Marina Vigil each earned a spot on the All-Conference second team for the effort in singles action. Vigil posted a 15-5 mark in doubles play while Garcia went 16-4 on the season.

Elena Munoz earned a second team nod in doubles as the duo went 4-1 on the season. Garcia and. Munoz were ranked 20th in the latest Oracle/ITA Division II Women's Tennis rankings.
Gabi Ioannou had a breakout sophomore season as the Melbourne, Australia native posted a 14-4 record at the No. 4 line. Her performance earned her a singles honorable mention selection.
Alice Thane and Vigil went 4-1 at No. 2 doubles this season, earning them an honorable mention honor.
Ten players were also recognized on the inaugural LSC Women's Tennis Sportsmanship Team.
Abigail Csengery was St. Mary's for the Sportsmanship team. Csengery, a team captain, had a great year playing at the No. 5 and No. 6 lines. The senior compiled a 12-6 record.
