LAREDO, Texas - A late own-goal by the Rattlers resulted in a 2-2 draw for the St. Mary's Men's Soccer team in their regular season finale against Texas A&M International on Tuesday night. St. Mary's moves to 6-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in Lone Star Conference action. The Rattlers await Lone Star Conference Tournament seeding to see who and where they will be playing in the four-team tournament.
The Dustdevils started the scoring early in the seventh minute as Kristian Colaci found the back of the net to give Texas A&M International a 1-0 advantage.
Alonso Rodriguez and
Graham Torres both had scoring opportunities for the Rattlers but could not beat the Dustdevil keeper. St. Mary's would trail 1-0 heading into the lockeroom.
Marlon Flores scored the equalizer for the Rattlers in the 68th minute off the assist from
Dani Gimena and Sebastian Rodriguez. The assist is the third in the last two matches for Gimena and the second for Rivera.
In the 81st minute,
Cian Foley scored his third goal of the year, this one coming on a penalty kick to put the Rattlers in front, 2-1 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the match.
It appeared as if the Rattlers were going to pick up their seventh win of the season until a header went into their own goal to even the match at two.
Max De Leon took a crack in the 108th minute but did not find the back of the net, resulting in the first draw of the season for the Rattlers.
The match was played pretty even as the Rattlers took 15 shots, putting seven on goal and the Dustdevils took 14, putting eight on goal. Texas A&M International took five corner kicks to the Rattlers' four.
