CANYON, Texas – A pair of back-to-back goals by Midwestern State ended the 18th-ranked St. Mary's Men's Soccer team's run in the Lone Star Conference Championship on Saturday evening.

The Rattlers (6-3-1, 5-2-1 Lone Star) fell 2-0 to the Mustangs (7-2-1, 5-2-1 Lone Star) in the semifinals of the league tournament in a rematch of the 2019 championship game.

Midwestern State scored twice in a 90 second span, getting the first goal at 7:43 in the first period and the second at 9:13 for the only scores of the night.

Late in the second period (86:13), sophomore Cian Foley (Wexford, Ireland) took a shot in the middle of the net but couldn't sneak the ball past the keeper and give the Rattlers an opportunity to cut the deficit in half.

After giving up the two goals, freshman goalie Andre Schlaefli (Katy, Texas) saved the final 10 Mustang shots.

Midwestern State will square off against top-seeded West Texas A&M, which won 2-0 in the other semifinal. The teams meet on Monday, April 12 at 5 p.m.
