Box Score DALLAS - The St. Mary's Women's Tennis team bounced back after a tough loss to Midwestern State on Friday to defeat DBU in convincing fashion, 6-1. St. Mary's finishes the regular season with a 15-5 mark including a 7-2 record in Lone Star Conference action.
Marina Vigil and
Alice Thane were the first to finish in doubles competition. The duo picked up a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 line. The Patriots squared things up with a 7-5 victory at the No. 1 line.
Gabi Ioannou and
Abigail Csengery were the last pair on the court and with a hard-fought 7-5 win, the Rattler clinched the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Ioannou picked up the first singles victory for the Rattlers as the sophomore won, 6-3, 6-0. Csengery was next to finish, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 6 line, giving St. Mary's a 3-0 advantage.
Penshorn clinched the match for St. Mary's as the junior won two close sets, 7-5, 7-5 to earn her 18th singles win of the year.
Elena Munoz and
Marina Vigil picked up wins at the No. 5 and No. 2 lines, respectively.
DBU picked up a win at No. 2 singles to avoid the shutout.
The Rattlers await seeding for the Lone Star Conference Championship. The tournament will begin on Thursday, April 29 at the Waco Regional Tennis Center.
