KINGSVILLE – In the first of three consecutive matches against No. 10 Texas A&M-Kingsville, the St. Mary's Volleyball team dropped a straight-sets match, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21.
The Rattlers move to 2-8 on the season, while the Javelinas remain undefeated at 10-0. The two teams will face off on Wednesday and Saturday to conclude the regular season with both matches scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
For the third-straight match, freshman
Mia Martinez (Orlando, Fla.) recorded eight kills, however she had no hitting errors on the night for a .571 hitting percentage (8-0-14). Junior middle blocker
Julia Deais (San Antonio) was the only Rattler to record double figures in kills with 10. Freshman
Isabella Dena (San Antonio) tallied a team-best 11 digs and Deais had the team's only service ace of the night.
Martinez and junior
Rachel McDonald (Indianapolis, Ind.) combined for two blocks, while senior setter
Lindsey Kaufman (Coral Springs, Fla.) led the club with 17 assists.
The two teams went back-and-forth in the last two sets, posting 17 ties and 10 lead changes, however the Javelinas were able to hold the advantage at the end of both.
