Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's Women's Tennis team picked up their third straight victory on Thursday night as they defeated Trinity University, 5-4.
The Rattlers improve to 9-3 on the season with the win.
Maria Garcia and Elena Munoz earned a point for the Rattlers at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-6.
Marina Vigil and
Abigail Csengery took their match at the No. 3 doubles line, winning 8-4 to give the Rattlers a 2-0 lead in the match. Trinity took the No. 2 doubles match, making it a 2-1 match heading into singles action.
In No. 1 singles,
Ashley Penshorn cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 vcitrocy while
Maria Garcia won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 line.
After falling behind one set to none,
Marina Vigil came back to win the second set at No. 3 singles to force a third. Vigil battled but eventually fell, 7-5.
Trinity won at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. At the No. 6 spot,
Alice Thane defeated her opponent, 6-4, 6-1.
St. Mary's came in at No. 3 in the latest ITA South Central Region poll.
The Rattlers will return to the court on Saturday as they host UT Tyler in Lone Star Conference action.
