LAREDO, Texas – The St. Mary's Women's Soccer team had their three-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday night as the Rattlers fell to Texas A&M International, 1-0 in overtime.
The Rattlers outshot the Dustdevils, 12-10 and put 10 of those 12 on goal compared to seven for TAMIU.
Kylie Von Holle tested the Dustdevil keeper early as she put a shot on goal in the 10th minute but Alicia Huerta turned it away.
Just 10 minutes later, Von Holle fired her second shot on goal but Huerta made her second save of the half to keep the game even at 0-0.
Megan Copeland had a scoring opportunity in the 24th minute but could not convert.
St. Mary's goalkeeper,
Cameron Koerner made the first of six saves in the 26th minute. Koerner made two more saves late in the first half to keep the game tied going into halftime.
St. Mary's put five shots on frame in a five-minute span during the second half but could not beat Huerta for the potential game-winner.
The Dustdevils had just to chances in the second half but both were denied by Koerner.
In the 92nd minute, the Dustdevils found the game winner from Leianna Jimenez, snapping a three-match win streak by the Rattlers.
Copeland finished with three shots on goal while Von Holle,
Miranda Narvaez, and
Alexis Lawrence each had two.
St. Mary's will return to action on Sunday as they host Texas Lutheran at Sigma Beta Chi Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
