SAN ANTONIO – St. Mary's Men's Tennis suffered its first loss of the season this afternoon as the Rattlers fell 5-2 to Nicholls State University at Rohrbach Tennis Stadium.
The doubles duo of
Jeremiah Sanchez and
James Finnigan opened things up for the Rattlers, winning their doubles match, 6-2.
Leon Hein and
Nicolas Llosa clinched the doubles point for St. Mary's, winning 6-3 at the No. 3 line.
Brendan Brown and
Ryan Koth battled at No. 2 doubles, losing 7-6 by way of a 7-4 tiebreak.
The Colonels took a 2-1 lead when they picked up a win at the No. 2 and 5 lines but Sanchez evened things up with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Sanchez remains undefeated in both doubles and singles on the season.
Nicholls won the final three singles matches of the night to clinch the 5-2 victory.
The Rattlers will return to the court tomorrow as they host the University of New Orleans at 12:00 p.m.
